Weekly Meal Plan December 2-6

I can’t believe that December starts tomorrow! Where does the time go? I’ve got most of my Christmas shopping done (My goal is to not step foot in a mall in December, but I think this year I will have to…I have a few more gifts to buy) and we are putting up the tree this weekend. I’m hoping to do some Christmas baking in the next few weeks too, but I need to keep that to a minimum so that I don’t eat it all!

With the beginning of December comes lots of extra activities in the evenings, so I am going to be relying a bit on the stuff I have frozen over the last few months and my slow cooker so that we have quick meals.

Here is what I have planned for this week:

Monday

Tuesday

Wednesday

Thursday

Friday

Chicken Noodle Soup

Chili

Borscht and salad

Ribs, rice and salad

Frozen Pizza

Grocery List:

  • Chicken breasts
  • Chicken broth
  • Carrots
  • Celery
  • One can of mushrooms
  • Onions
  • Thyme
  • Bay leaf
  • Egg noodles
  • Ground beef
  • 2 cans of kidney beans (one white, one red)
  • Green pepper
  • Tomato soup
  • Chili powder
  • Cumin
  • Leftover borscht (here is my recipe)
  • Salad fixings
  • Pork side or back ribs, whatever you like better
  • BBQ sauce (the recipe I found online suggested Sweet Baby Ray’s sauce, so I am going to try it)
  • Rice
  • Frozen pizza

Monday

I did not get to this soup last week. I had made WAY TOO many lentils the night before so we ended up eating leftovers. This soup will be great because I am going to my first Christmas party on Monday night. It’s quick, easy and not too filling so I can eat lots of goodies at the party!

Tuesday

Cold winter evenings just seem to call for recipes like this. I love chili.

Wednesday

I am pulling out some of the borscht I froze. Sometimes I forget what I put in my freezer, and it starts to get a little full. Time to use some of that stuff up!

Thursday

Andrew loves ribs and we really only ever have them when we go to his parents’ house. His mom makes amazing ribs. I found this crockpot recipe that is supposed to make tender ribs that are still sticky and caramelized (with the help of the broiler right at the end). I’m going to try it and I hope that it is not a total disaster.

Weekly Meal Plan November 25-29

Well, slow cooker week almost killed me.

Don’t get me wrong, I still love my slow cooker, I just do not want to use it every day of the week. It was completely draining. I felt like it took away the enjoyment that I feel when I cook.

So I think I will go back to using my slow cooker once a week or so and regain my love of cooking and all things food this week with a handful of old favourites and a new recipe or two.

Here is what I have planned for this week:

Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday
Pork Loin Roast with apples, sweet potatoes and onion Pork Paninis and salad Spiced lentils Chicken Noodle Soup Frozen Pizza

Grocery List:

  • Pork loin roast (I bought a center cut loin roast that was on sale, it is huge. I was looking at the tenderloins before I said this behemoth)
  • Apples
  • Sweet potatoes
  • Onions
  • Sweet paprika
  • Cumin
  • Chili powder
  • Olive oil
  • Bread
  • Panini fixings (whatever you like in a sandwich)
  • Salad fixings
  • Naan bread
  • Rice
  • Cooked lentils
  • Yellow pepper
  • Garlic
  • Tomato sauce
  • Ground ginger
  • Cayenne (or red pepper flakes)
  • Turmeric
  • Coriander
  • Garam masala
  • Vegetable broth
  • Lemon
  • Carrots
  • Celery
  • Slice mushrooms
  • Thyme
  • Bay leaf
  • Chicken broth
  • Chicken breasts
  • Egg noodles

Monday

I bought this HUGE pork loin roast and I am going to tackle it on Monday night. I figure there will be plenty of meat for leftovers and paninis the next day. Let’s hope this cooks up as easy as the recipe says it should.

Tuesday

Pork roast redo with paninis and a salad. I love when one night’s cooking turns into two nights of dinner.

Wednesday

I didn’t get to this during my crockpot week, so I froze the delicious naan bread I bought. Wednesday seems like the perfect time to pull that bread out and give this recipe at try.

Thursday

This soup recipe was so good, I wanted to make it again. And who doesn’t love a good chicken noodle soup?
