Pizza Rolls

These are like pizza cinnamon buns.

Its an easy to put together meal, and they freeze great. I wrap them individually in plastic after they cool and store them in a large freezer bag. Then you can pull them out when you need them.

I made my uncle 2 dozen of these for his birthday….what else do you get the guy who has everything?

Here is what you need:

  • 1 pack dry active yeast
  • 2.5 cups flour
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • pizza sauce
  • pizza toppings of your choice

Turn your oven on to 425 degrees

Start by making the dough.

Stir the yeast into one cup of warm water.

Stir in sugar, salt, oil and flour. (I like to add in a little flax too because, like I’ve said before, fibre makes us all a little happier)

Knead 20 times and let rest 5 minutes


Flour your work surface and rolling pin. Roll out your dough into a large rectangle.


Add pizza sauce, toppings, spices and cheese. This time I used pizza sauce,  Italian seasoning, red pepper flakes, salami and mozzarella cheese.


Roll up length wise and cut into cinnamon bun type pieces.


Place on a greased cookie sheet and bake until golden brown and the cheese is melted (approximately 15 minutes)



Watch therolls carefully near the end of time time…they can easily burn on the bottom. Next time I may turn the temperature down, say to 400 degrees, and bake for a longer time if necessary.

IMG_1842They were delicious! I have never used salami in them before and it tasted amazing. Andrew actually said these were the best pizza rolls yet.
