Weekly Meal Plan April 20-24

I know I say this often, but how does time move so fast???

My student teachers are finishing up their 5 weeks and May is just around the corner. Before I know it, the school year is going to be over and I will be saying goodbye to another group of kids.

This came up the other day while I was working with a small group of students at my guided reading table.

“Are you going to teach Grade 4 next year?” one of my naughtiest little boys asked me.

“Nope, I’m going to stay teaching Grade 3 and you will go on to Grade 4 with a new teacher.” I responded rather nonchalantly as I was busy helping another student at the table.

“We’re really going to miss you” was his response.

I didn’t immediately say anything because I was engaged in a conversation with another student.

“Mrs. Skinner, I said we are really going to miss you.” he said again, but a little louder.

“Good thing you will be right down the hall” I said “You can come by any time to say hi”

“Yeah” piped up another little boy “We can just walk down any time we want and say hi. That will be nice.”

As challenging as this year has been, these kids become mine and it’s still hard to see them go at the end of the year…ok, I’ll be honest, it’s harder to see some leave than others…

This week is a throwback to some of my favorites. I hope they are yours as well.

Weekly Meal Plan April 6-10

Right before Spring Break I sent home the second report card for my grade 3 students. There is always a fear sending these home. Did I get it right? Did I do enough? Am I communicating clearly enough with parents?

In the end, it always works out well and I get lots of good feedback from parents and from students. There was one little girl who brought me back her report card signature page with the following comment written on it.

DOCa

This little girl never says ANYTHING in my class….it is literally like pulling teeth to get her to talk out loud and when I do try to talk to her and ask her how things are going she just looks at me like a deer in headlights. Thankfully it seems like she is enjoying my class and being a part of it. It’s things like this that remind me of the difference teachers can make…it’s nice to know I have pretty hair too….Since last week was an eating debacle, our meal plan is high in veggies and light meals so that we can get ourselves back on track. Here is what we are eating this week:
